This is our dog Sherlock.

Sherlock is 8 ½ months old, so it was time for him to have the “procedure” (which he had last Thursday, so it has been exactly one week). The procedure went perfectly normal, but anybody who has had a dog neutered knows that it is hard to keep them from licking their wounds.

We tried using the cone of shame that we have, but it was a little too small and my wife was hoping that a more “dignified” solution could work.

First we tried a onesie like this:

We even had a Steve Jobs version:

But unfortunately, Sherlock was able to circumvent this obstacle (just as Steve Jobs would!) So we tried an Elizabethan collar instead.

But alas, this obstacle was also circumventable (we named him Sherlock for a reason).

So my wife had a brilliant idea – just dress him in toddler underwear from Fred Myer and cut a hole for the tail!

This worked much better, but wasn’t 100% effective, so we combined the underwear with the Elizabethan collar, and the result was not only effective, it is very stylish!

I’m so glad that we were able to preserve his dignity!
