A former co-worker (and friend) recently had a family tragedy that left his partner in the ICU for several weeks and a young daughter and an infant to care for all by himself. Two former co-workers each spent a week in Tucson helping out, so I was happy to take my own two-week turn.
While the vast majority of my time was spent caring for an infant (it has been many years, but it comes back quickly), I brought my camera on the off-hand-chance that I’d ever make it out of the house. I had never been to Tucson before, but it is really beautiful (in a road runner type of way) and I was able to make a few short excursions (including a trip during the middle of the night).

These are pictures that I took from Sabino Canyon, which is 5 minutes from my friend’s house (I was careful to avoid all acme products):

And of course, and actual road runner (which differs greatly from their cartoon depiction)! I did hear some coyotes, but I didn’t see any (only rabbits, skunks, and possibly a bobcat).

I also took my first attempt at photographing the milky way. These pictures were also taken at Sabino Canyon, which is less than ideal since it is very close to Tucson so the sky was much too light to really capture the milky way.
